An Ode to Cheese Crispies

My friend Emily at work {hi, Emily!} introduced me to the most amazing appetizer/tiny bite/deliciousness at our Halloween party.  I’ve been craving them ever since and finally had a legitimate excuse to make them for our supper club Christmas dinner.

Friends, I would like for you to meet Cheese Crispies.

cheese crispiesDarling, dear, oh so yummy!  It’s like the most perfect and easy cheese straw!   I could just about eat the whole batch.

And since Emily was sweet enough to share the recipe, I’ll share with you, too!  Make these soon.  Trust me.

Ingredients:

1 lb shredded cheddar cheese at room temperature

1 cup butter, softened

1.5 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups rice krispies cereal

1/2 tsp salt

2 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 pinch garlic powder

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 350* F.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.  Form small balls out of the dough.  Place on cookie sheet and flatten slightly with a fork.  Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
